    Advises Parks and Recreation on the rec center and Serra Mesa's parks. Youth sports leaders, school PTAs and the other neighborhood groups sit on it.

    Food for Serra Mesa households going through illness, job loss or another crisis.

    Wednesdays · 10 AM–1 PM · 2650 Melbourne Dr

    Pickup is by drive-through, for households in 92123. Call 858-278-2647 with questions.

  • Serra Mesa Community Garden and Orchard

    • Become a member

    68 garden plots and 18 fruit trees behind 2650 Melbourne Dr. The orchard's fruit goes to the food pantry.

    Plots are rented to residents when one is free.

  • Friends of Ruffin Canyon

    Residents looking after Ruffin Canyon's habitat and trails. They publish the trail brochure and the Serra Mesa trails guide.

  • Friends of the Serra Mesa–Kearny Mesa Library

    Raises money for the branch's books, equipment and programs such as story times and summer reading, mostly through book sales.

    1st Tuesday of odd-numbered months · 6:00 PM · Sudberry Room at the library

    Membership runs from $5 a year for students and seniors to $20 for a household, and members get first pick at the book sales. Coming to meetings is welcome but not required.

    The community council's newsletter, published every two months since November 1988.

    Articles, ideas and upcoming events are welcome. The deadline is the third Friday of each even-numbered month.

    Youth baseball and softball, with spring seasons and all-star teams.
