How this site is run

Two of us, residents of Serra Mesa, evenings and weekends. We don't work for the City, and nobody pays us: there are no ads and no sponsors. We don't put our names on the site. What is here should stand on its sources, not on who typed it.

• Sourced and dated. Every meeting date, project status, representative's name and business listing links to the page it was read from, and the site shows the day someone last checked it. The oldest check is the one shown, so a stale page tells on itself.
• About Serra Mesa. A fact has to be about this neighborhood. Kearny Mesa and Mission Valley are next door and are not here, however close.
• Deadlines only from a published notice. The Act-by strip on Events is empty when nothing is open. It is never filled with a plausible date to look complete.
• Reporting we have read. A story goes on News after someone has opened the article and confirmed its date. No crime blotter: an incident is listed only when it changes something standing.
• Nothing bought, nothing ranked. Businesses are listed alphabetically within a category because they have a street address here, not because they paid or were reviewed. A business that asks to come off comes off.
• Plain statements. One line saying what something is, not how good it is.

Not the City, not the planning group, and not serramesa.org, which belongs to the Serra Mesa Community Council. Nothing here is official. For anything that matters, use the agency's own page; every card links to it.
